Yoga found me when I was at a transitional point in my life. I got severely injured playing the sport I lived for-rugby. Being an athlete, and being at the peak of my rugby career at that, I was distraught. I worked so hard to get to where I was-captain of my college rugby team, training with the USA Women’s Rugby team, and on my way to playing in The World Cup. In my self-pitying state, a friend convinced me to go to a reggae Hot Yoga class. I agreed since it was the only form of movement I could do and it was January in Boulder Colorado.

I fell in love. It was the most challenging, frustrating, impossible, beautiful form of movement I ever experienced. It required all of my focus, strength, and discipline. After this class I signed up for the 200 hour teacher training that would commence in February. This training helped me discover peace, self-acceptance, and self-love. I never planned on teaching yoga, I just fell in love with the way it made me feel—grounded, strong, peaceful, and beautiful.

I've been teaching yoga for 6 years now, and practicing for 7. Yoga saved me, physically and mentally, and continues to help me along my journey. Through yoga I've learned to surrender to God, to be at peace with that which is, and that all you can do in life is try your best. It's a yoga practice, not a yoga perfect. So just show up on your mat, show up in your life, and be the best you can be ❤
