Sarah Schmid

Sarah first found Yoga in 2007 at a small studio in her hometown of Burlington, Vermont. When she left the green mountains for the US Coast Guard Academy, she relied on yoga club as a reprieve from the intense structure of military school. The opportunity to breathe, slow down, and become grounded through a regular Ashtanga practice gave her an unwavering sense of peace. She graduated USCGA in 2012 and was stationed in San Diego, California where she joined the welcoming community of CorePower Yoga Pacific Beach. The idea of serving as a teacher and sharing her passion for the practice enticed her to complete her Power Yoga Teacher Training in 2013. Immediately following TT she started a sunset yoga class on the flight deck of Coast Guard Cutter BOUTWELL while on deployment. In 2014 the service sent Sarah to vibrant San Francisco, where she continued teaching with CorePower Yoga, Karma Yoga SF, and Outdoor Yoga SF. Sarah has also completed Power Yoga Level II training, Hot Power Fusion teacher training, Yoga Sculpt teacher training, and Yin Yoga training. Sarah's continued work as a yoga teacher peaked her interest in obtaining a deeper understanding of human physiology and inspired her to apply for the CG’s Physician Assistant Program, which ultimately brought her to San Antonio & Southtown Yoga Loft in August of 2017. Sarah's classes coalesce a balance of rhythmic pranayama, moving meditation, creative sequencing, anatomical awareness, and mindful intention setting. She is heavily interested in translating the ancient teachings of yoga to life off of the mat for her students, and hopes to see you in class!
